Thursday, 15 December 2016, Amman: Master trainers from NCCA’s National Interactive Theatre Troupe conducted a workshop in November for creative writing and interactive theatre techniques. The workshop included 20 emerging Jordanian and Syrian artists, between the ages of 18 – 30.
This training is part of the active citizens "Artivism" project. The project, which was established in partnership with the British Council, is implemented by the National Center for Culture and Arts of the King Hussein Foundation.
Artivisim aims to raise awareness around the importance of social cohesion and co-existence. This is portrayed through respect and acceptance of others and promoting active citizenship, through the use of different performing arts.
The project began in October 2016 and end in March 2017.
The workshop consisted of a 40 hour training in Active Citizenship, creative writing skills and interactive theater techniques including; improvisation, role-playing, in addition to voice and speech. Workshops enabled the participants to write 20 monologues to be included in a booklet and distributed among cultural centers and stakeholders.
The second workshop conducted on the 14th and 15th of December to select the monologues and present them artistically in a stage reading session to the public.
Three performances presented in three locations throughout the kingdom, on the 19th of December at 12:00PM at the National Centre for Culture and Arts, on the 20th of December in Irbid at Princess BasmaCenter for Human Development at 11:00am and at the British Council on the 10th of January 2017 at 1:00PM.
