The National Center for Culture & Arts in cooperation with United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) commenced The Advanced Regional Y-PEER Theatre Based PEER Education Training of Trainers on "How to Use Theater Techniques in Community Development", for 12 participants who finished the first Regional training course from the following countries; Iraq, Egypt, Sudan, Algeria, Palestine, Morocco, Lebanon, Yemen, Tunis and Jordan.
The training began on the 25th of October and will end on the 30thof October where the participants will present the outcome of the training comprising of three short plays with audience interaction as well as receiving their certificates accredited by ITI, UNESCO.
NCCA was appointed by UNFPA in 2013 as the Regional Centre of Excellence for Theatre Based PEER Education after an evaluation and assessment process of similar Performing Arts Centres in the Region.
The agreement was signed between the UNFPA Arab States Regional Office in Egypt and the National Centre for Culture and Arts of King Hussein Foundation on 6 June, 2013, indicating that the NCCA will work in partnership with UNFPA and the Y-PEER Network to use the interactive theater- based techniques in training young people age (19-30) to utilize theater skills and participatory drama methodology to raise their awareness on healthy lifestyles, reproductive health and civic engagement.
Since 2013 NCCA successfully conducted four Regional Training Courses which were attended by 100 Y-PEER educators age (19 – 30) from Algeria, Egypt, Sudan, Yemen, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Libya, Djibouti, Somalia, Tunis, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Iraq and Jordan.
