On Thursday, October 30, 2014, The National Centre for Culture and Arts (NCCA) concluded the Advanced Regional Y-PEER Theatre Based PEER Education Training of Trainers "Performing Arts for Action (PACT)” in cooperation with UNFPA, utilizing theater skills andparticipatory drama methodology to raise awareness on healthy lifestyles, reproductive health and civic engagement.
The 40 hours training course over a period of 6 days accredited and certified by The International Theatre Institute ITI, UNESCO was attended by 12 Y-Peers age (19 – 30) who finished the first regional training from the following countries; Algeria, Tunis, Morocco, Egypt, Sudan, Yemen, Lebanon, Iraq, Palestine and Jordan. The training was conducted by master trainers: Nabil Sawalha, Lina Attel, Mohannad Nawaflah and Ghandi Saber, Suzan Al Banawi, assisted by: Ala' Hamad, Fadel Awadi, Saba Obeidat, Zeinab AL Shrouf and Mr. Ghassan Tanash from Ministry of Culture.
The event was attended by Ms. Suad Nabhan, Director of UNFPA - Jordan and Dr. Manal Tahtamouni, Director of the Institute for Family Health/Noor Al Hussein Foundation
During the closing ceremony the participants presented 3 drama scenes that culminated as an outcome of the training, depicting issues related to adversities of early marriage, puberty and sex education. At the end of the ceremony the participants were awarded their Certificates.
